Meet

Shannon M. Denman

I am a Chicago native, a proud alumna of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. My career has been built on a deep commitment to serving others in some of the most challenging and meaningful areas of social work.

Professional Journey

Over the years, I have worked in crisis intervention, corrections, and community mental health. Currently, I serve as a senior social worker with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Each step of my journey has reinforced my belief in resilience, hope, and the power of skilled, compassionate social work to change lives.

Focus & Vision

As I continue to grow in my profession, my focus is on helping the next generation of social workers build confidence and competence through clinical supervision, consultation, and mentorship. I believe supervision is more than just counting hours – it’s about cultivating skills, insight, and ethical grounding for a fulfilling and sustainable career.

My long-term vision is to expand into exam preparation, continuing education workshops, and professional trainings, creating spaces where social workers feel both supported and challenged to rise to their full potential.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of my professional role, I am a proud mom to a lively and curious little boy. Motherhood has added depth to my perspective as both clinician and supervisor, reminding me daily of the importance of balance, patience, and presence. This same energy guides my work – grounded, practical, and full of heart.

Words I Live By

As Maya Angelou wisely said:

“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.”
